Tony Hawk Sanoland Ditch 1984 Skate Photo
I shot most of my 80s skate photos of my friends (like Tony Hawk) and the hottest skateboarders of the day. Thousands of rolls of film ran through my Minolta, Pentax and finally a Nikon and I honed my photo skills daily at the Del Mar Skate Ranch and other local spots. Del Mar was my central focus, I worked at the Skate Ranch and at the snack bar selling Cokes and Twinkies during the day and sleeping on the pool table at night. I was pretty much living the skate dream back then. Sanoland was one of the other places we skated, the ditch in Cardiff, CA has been skated since the 1970s, that's when I skated it and is still rideable to this day. This is Tony Hawk in 1984 airing out of the steep wall.
